France Repatriates 10 Children of Jihadists from Syrian Camps

French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said that ten children of French jihadists, held in displacement camps under Kurdish control in Syria, returned to the country overnight from Sunday to Monday.
"France has today repatriated ten young French minor children, orphans or humanitarian cases, who were in camps in northeastern Syria," the minister said in a statement. Their arrival point in France and the circumstances in which they left Syria were not specified. The only detail given by the Quai d’Orsay: "these children have been handed over to the French judicial authorities, are now the subject of special medical follow-up and are being taken care of by the social services."
France has "thanked" the semi-autonomous Kurdish administration of northeastern Syria for its "cooperation" in this new repatriation. The country claims to have acted "in view of the situation of these particularly vulnerable young children and within the framework of the authorizations given by the local authorities." Since the fall of the Islamic State group in March 2019, France has managed to repatriate 28 children from Syria.
