France Regrets UN Envoy’s Resignation Over Western Sahara Dispute

A strong supporter of Morocco on the Sahara issue, France has just reacted to the resignation of the "Personal Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations for Western Sahara", Horst Köhler.
"France has learned with regret of the resignation of the Personal Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations for Western Sahara. It wishes to pay tribute to his work, his personal commitment, and his continued efforts to carry out his mission since his appointment in August 2017," the Quai d’Orsay states on its website.
For France, "President Köhler has enabled important progress on the issue for which he was responsible, in particular the two round tables in Geneva bringing together Morocco, the Polisario Front, Algeria and Mauritania".
Wishing to remain on this positive momentum, France calls "on all participants to continue this dialogue".
"France reiterates in this regard its full support for the efforts of the Secretary-General in favor of a just, lasting and mutually agreed solution to the Western Sahara, in accordance with the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council," it is further written.
