France Reaffirms Support for Morocco in Sahara Dispute, Urges Peaceful Resolution

The French Minister of Foreign Affairs, during his working visit to Morocco, expressed France’s concern about the situation currently prevailing in Guerguerat. Jean-Yves Le Drian stated that it is important to find a solution that will take into account security and peace in the region.
The head of French diplomacy held his press conference together with the Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad, Nasser Bourita. The two statesmen are convinced of the need to get out of the situation prevailing in Guerguerat.
He took the opportunity of this media outing to reiterate France’s "constant" position supporting the search for a just, lasting solution to the crisis. "I reminded Mr. Bourita of France’s constant position supporting the search for a just, lasting and mutually agreed solution under the aegis of the United Nations, in accordance with the resolutions of the Security Council, considering the Moroccan autonomy plan as a serious and credible basis for a negotiated solution."
For his part, Nasser Bourita welcomed the interview with the French minister. The exchanges between the two men focused on various essential issues for strengthening bilateral relations between Morocco and France.
