France Issues Fewer Visas to Moroccans in 2021, Down 29.6% from Previous Year

For the whole of 2021, the French consulates in Morocco issued 69,408 visas to Moroccan nationals, a figure down 29.6% compared to 2020.
In its report for the year 2021 on residence permits issued to foreigners, the French Ministry of the Interior detailed the places of origin of the applications.
Regarding Morocco, the statistics reveal that France granted fewer visas to Moroccans. Only about 69,408 visas were granted due to health restrictions or French immigration policy.
Thus, the kingdom ranks ahead of Algeria, 63,649 visas granted down 13.1% and Tunisia 46,070, (-6.9%). A ranking shaken up this year with the collapse of China.
However, the impact of the decision to reduce the number of visas for nationals of the three Maghreb countries (-50% for Algeria and Morocco and -30% for Tunisia), which came into effect in October, is not clearly reflected in the latest statistics from the French Ministry of the Interior.
These restrictions "remain in force," the ministry also said, even if their effects have been more "qualitative than quantitative." And to add: "We will continue to increase the pressure on countries that do not want to take back their nationals" and there will be "other measures for those who do not cooperate," the Interior Ministry further warned.
