France Extends Moroccan Residence Permits by 3 Months Amid COVID-19 Crisis

The French Ambassador to Morocco, Hélène Le Gal, announced on Friday, March 27, that the validity of residence permits for Moroccans currently in France, as well as for French people in Morocco, is extended by three months.
With this announcement, Hélène Le Gal confirms the decision announced by the Paris Police Prefecture on March 16. She also stressed that "regularization will come later." This decision comes in the current context marked by a major health crisis, which has led countries to take restrictive measures including confinement. The current situation "does not allow prefectures to process residence permit applications under normal conditions."
The French authorities, in making this decision, "aim to secure the presence on French and Moroccan territories of foreigners in regular situation, and to avoid any questioning of the rights conferred on them by the residence document they hold, in particular the right to work and the benefit of social rights."
