France Eases Citizenship Path for Essential Foreign Workers During COVID-19 Crisis

France has decided to facilitate the acquisition of nationality for foreign workers on the front line of Covid-19. They must meet certain conditions.
In a press release, the Directorate of Legal and Administrative Information (Prime Minister) calls on foreign workers exercising a particularly exposed or essential profession for the continuity of the nation during the health crisis period (from March 24 to July 10, 2020 or September 17 for Mayotte and French Guiana, and from October 17, 2020 to February 16, 2021 inclusive) who wish to apply for naturalization or make a declaration of nationality to justify an active professional commitment during this period.
They will have to justify an activity during this period by producing a certificate available on the website of the Ministry of the Interior that they will have completed, accompanied by the supporting documents requested depending on their professional situation (employees, self-employed, others...), it is specified.
"Your application cannot be examined without prior submission of a complete application file for access to French nationality to the platform in the jurisdiction of your place of residence (the interactive map of the platforms and the list of documents to be produced are available in our information file) accompanied by the duly completed certificate," adds the directorate.
