France to Digitize Visa Process, Aiming to Boost Security and Efficiency

France will fully digitize visa issuance over the next two years. This new reform was decided by the Strategic Visa Commission in order to correct the many malfunctions observed and criticized.
To this end, on November 6, a body bringing together the French ministries of the Interior, Europe and Foreign Affairs had been set up to "examine and adopt measures and guidelines on visa policy with regard to three objectives, namely the prevention of security risks, the control of migratory flows and the promotion of attractiveness and exchanges".
As soon as it was set up, the Strategic Visa Commission decided to put in place new coordination mechanisms between the two ministries, to ensure closer monitoring of visa issuance, particularly in consulates located in countries where they are issued in greater numbers, notably Morocco.
The issue of the digitized management of visa issuance, for greater efficiency, was also addressed at this meeting.
