France and Morocco Boost Border Controls on Sète-Nador Ferry Route

In Sète, the Moroccan and French authorities are ensuring the proper organization of transits and passenger controls to Tangier and Nador in Morocco. On Tuesday, July 5, around 6 p.m., a cross-border control device was deployed during the departure of the Atlas car-ferry on the Sète - Nador maritime link.
This visit by customs and the Border Police was attended by the prefect of Hérault, Hugues Moutouh, and Nouzha Sahel, the Consul General of Morocco in Montpellier, reports Midi Libre. According to the prefectural authority, this is an unprecedented formula "to display our good understanding and the perfect cooperation between our two countries." "We came to ensure that the organization of transits and passenger controls to Tangier and Nador in Morocco is going as smoothly as possible," she added.
It was only after six hours that it was possible to proceed with boarding. "We process about 80 vehicles per hour," said Olivier Harguindeguy, director of the border police. "The checks take a little time, but we are the gateway to the Schengen area here at the Port of Sète." "Our collaboration is exemplary. The Consul General was pleased with this mobilization. We will reach a peak in traffic with the Eid festivities approaching this week," added the French official.
