Former Muslims Share Journey to Christianity in New Documentary

The conversion of Muslims to Christianity is at the heart of the making of a documentary entitled "The New Converts", broadcast on Monday, February 3, on the KTO channel. Three former Muslims recount their "singular path".
Olivier Vaillant and Cecylia Rançon are the co-directors of the documentary "The New Converts". In this documentary, two men and a woman, converted to Catholicism or Protestantism, recount the relationships they had with Islam before embracing Christianity.
Similarly, the relationships they now have with their families and friends are marked by the incomprehension of their choice, the rejection of others. In other words, a often difficult break for the new converts and their entourage.
In addition to the intervention of these converts, several researchers, accompanying converts and specialists, have expressed their views on the subject. Emmanuel Pisani, director of the Institute of Science and Theology of Religions (ISTR), and Mohamed Bajrafil, imam of the Ivry-sur-Seine mosque, believe that the physical and psychological violence suffered by new converts has no Islamic basis.
"More than a simple cultural and religious choice, this conversion involves a renunciation that must be managed in order to fully embrace and live a newly chosen religion," comment the documentary’s directors.
