Former Macron Aide Benalla to Face Trial for Passport Fraud

The former mission officer at the Élysée, Alexandre Benalla will appear before the Paris Criminal Court for "forgery", "use of forgery" and "unauthorized use" of professional documents. The trial date is not yet known.
The judicial troubles are endless for Alexandre Benalla. He will be tried for "forgery", "use of forgery" and "public use without right of documents proving a professional capacity" in the case concerning his diplomatic and service passports, specifies France info. The Paris prosecutor’s office had requested his referral to the criminal court in September 2020.
The former mission officer at the Élysée is accused of having used his two diplomatic passports and his service passport about twenty times. An investigation had been opened on December 29, 2018, on suspicions of improper use by Alexandre Benalla of two diplomatic passports and fraudulent obtaining of a service passport.
In addition to the passport case, Mr. Benalla is also under investigation for the violence committed during the May 1, 2018 parade, and for the selfie taken with a weapon during the 2017 presidential campaign.
