Former Macron Aide Alexandre Benalla Released from Hospital After COVID-19 Treatment

Alexandre Benalla, former collaborator of the French President, Emmanuel Macron, has returned home after a few days of hospitalization in Paris. Affected by the coronavirus, he had been urgently admitted to the Cochin hospital.
The entourage of the former mission officer at the Elysée Palace told AFP that Mr. Benalla, 29, left the hospital on Tuesday. The SAMU and the firefighters had transported him, last Tuesday, to the intensive care unit of the Cochin hospital for a worsening of his state of health. He had contracted the coronavirus.
The former bodyguard of the Head of State had become embroiled in legal complications at the end of July 2018 after being recognized in a video during the May 1st demonstrations in the ranks of the police, beating a demonstrator.
The Paris prosecutor’s office had requested, on September 4 last, his referral to the criminal court for "forgery" and "use of forgery" as well as for "undue obtaining of an administrative document".
