Former Imam Receives Death Threats After Paris Police HQ Attack Investigation

After receiving death threats, Ahmed Hilali, the former imam of the Gonesse mosque in Val d’Oise, which was attended by Mickaël Harpon, the assailant of the Paris Police Headquarters, filed a complaint on Monday, October 21, his lawyer announced.
According to his lawyer’s explanations, Ahmed Hilali received an envelope addressed to him at the mosque, containing a handwritten letter with death threats written in black and white, reports BFMTV. "We’re going to kill you", "we’re going to kidnap you", "we’re going to make you eat pork", could be read in the letter.
The former imam of Gonesse was arrested and held in custody for 48 hours last week as part of the investigation into the attack on the Paris Police Headquarters, which left 4 dead on October 4, 2019.
The arrest was due to the proximity of the assailant, Mickaël Harpon, to his mosque. Ahmed Hilali was released without any charges being brought against him. Reacting to the attack, he had condemned the acts committed and stated that he did not know the terrorist.
