Former French PM Valls Urges Action Against Political Islam After Paris Attack

The former Prime Minister, Manuel Valls, reiterates his call to fight political Islam following the terrorist attack that occurred on Friday, September 25, in front of the former premises of Charlie Hebdo in Paris.
In a statement to BFMTV, he calls for action, as there are people who are threatened. "I’ll let you in on a secret: on Thursday, I was talking to one of my friends, a personality whose name I won’t mention, but who feels threatened, under surveillance," he confided. According to the former head of government of François Hollande, the threatened personalities are: the HR manager of Charlie Hebdo, Marika Bret, the journalist Zineb El Rhazoui, the secular activist Zohra Bitan.
"How many people today live under protection? That means there is a problem in our country, there is an internal, endogenous threat in our country," he said, adding that this is what must be fought with the utmost determination. "Let’s not be naive, there is an enemy, it is Islamism, it is political Islam," hammered the former Prime Minister.
On Friday, a man attacked with a cleaver a man and a woman who work for the France 2 Cash Investigation program in front of the former premises of the Charlie Hebdo newspaper, rue Nicolas Appert, in the 11th arrondissement of Paris. The individual and six suspected accomplices were arrested and taken into custody.
