Former Belgian Socialist Lawmaker Hassan Idrissi Dies by Suicide at 46

Hassan Idrissi, a former Belgian socialist elected official of Moroccan origin, committed suicide at the age of 46, leaving behind a wife and three children.
From a modest family (Moroccan father and Italian mother), Hassan Idrissi had managed to climb the ranks to become a Walloon deputy and a deputy to the Wallonia-Brussels Federation. But his career was not easy. He went through painful trials, including the suicide of his older brother and the separation of his parents. Despite this, he was able to show great determination to succeed.
In 2012, Hassan Idrissi became a municipal councilor in Tubize (Brabant wallon) and was very involved in local political life. Substitute for Dimitri Legasse in the Walloon parliament during the 2014 regional elections, he replaced him for six months in 2018. During his term, he joined various commissions and worked on the development of a solidarity fund for children practicing a sport, recalls Dernière heure.
He was an atypical, controversial but very endearing character who passed away. Dimitri Legasse says he is "deeply touched" by the loss of his friend.
