Five Arrested in France for Alleged Ties to Banned Islamophobia Group

Police in Val d’Oise arrested five individuals including two women on Tuesday, suspected of continuing the activities of the Collective Against Islamophobia in France (CCIF), dissolved since 2020 for inciting terrorism.
The arrest of these activists at their home in Le Thillay follows a report by Gérald Darmanin, then Minister of the Interior, on October 30, 2023, under Article 40 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, according to Europe 1. The relevant services of the French Ministry of the Interior have noted similarities between the Collective Against Islamophobia in Europe (CCIE) and the Collective Against Islamophobia in France (CCIF) to which the five suspects belong.
The police were unable to apprehend two other suspects who are believed to be traveling in Morocco and Algeria. However, investigators have placed the wife of one of them in custody after finding during the search a document proving that she was under contract with the CCIE as a communications officer. Another young woman in an irregular situation was detained for verification of her right to stay.
