Ferry Service from France to Morocco Halted Amid Travel Restrictions

Since midnight on Sunday, ferry crossings between the city of Sète and Morocco have been suspended for an indefinite period. The reasons for this decision remain unknown for the moment.
After the closure of the French borders (outside the EU) last Sunday, the port of Sète and the companies serving Morocco are awaiting clarification from the French state. The prefecture of Hérault has informed them of the derogatory measures to this ban on movement. These measures concern professionals and people who can justify the urgent nature of their travel. The latter must also present a sworn statement and a negative PCR test result dated less than 72 hours.
For the port of Sète, the information should come from Morocco. "Things are changing every five minutes. We inform travelers by phone and ask them to contact their company. For now, we are on standby," said one of the port officials.
The situation in Sète is not isolated. Other French ports are also experiencing the same difficulties in international passenger maritime transport. The company La Méridionale in Marseille, for its part, plans to suspend its new line with Tangier this month.
Note that the transport of goods or trucks is not affected by this border closure measure.
