Federal Prosecutor Seeks Trial for 10 Suspects in Brussels Terror Attack Case

The federal prosecutor’s office is moving towards sending eight indictees to the assizes and two others to the correctional court in the Brussels attacks case. This is at least what its spokesperson, Eric Van der Sypt, has stated.
The federal prosecutor’s office is sticking to its initial requisition regarding the referral of the indictees in the Brussels attacks case, said its spokesperson Eric Van der Sypt. Consequently, the prosecutor’s office will request before the indictment chamber the referral to the assizes of eight indictees and the referral to the correctional court of two others. A confirmation of the information from La Dernière Heure.
In its decision, the federal prosecutor’s office has hammered that Salah Abdeslam, Oussama Atar, Mohamed Abrini, Sofien Ayari, Osama Krayem, Ali El Haddad Asufi, Bilal El Makhoukhi and Hervé Bayingana Muhirwa must be tried before the assizes. The charges are: assassinations and attempted assassinations in a terrorist context, as well as membership of a terrorist group. As for the Farisi brothers, Smail and Ibrahim, he indicated that their referral to the correctional court is mandatory. They are accused of having participated in the activities of a terrorist group.
Last January, the council chamber had referred these ten indictees to the assize court to be tried in a single trial, due to the existence of a connection between all the facts involved.
