Father Faces Trial for Years of Abuse and Torture of Family in Val-d’Oise

Accused of violence and torture on his children, Saïd A., a 44-year-old Moroccan, has been before the Assize Court of Val-d’Oise since Monday to answer for his actions. His psychological profile seems worrying.
The family man is accused of violence and acts of barbarity on his three children, aged 9 to 14 at the time of the facts, and on his wife. The events took place between 2016 and 2020 in Bouffémont, in one of the apartments of the Hauts-Champs residence. In addition to regularly beating them, the Moroccan took pleasure in smearing the bodies of his two sons, his eldest daughter, as well as that of their mother with his excrement, reports Le Parisien.
During the hearing on Tuesday, the second day of his trial, the psychologist heard at the bar described a man with an "aseptic" discourse, presenting "a lot of cultural prejudices, particularly about women" and an "inability to question himself." The expert also mentioned the hypothesis of "a pathological personality of the paranoid type with perverse adjustments. Someone who has little empathy, a hypertrophy of the self. He has a very positive image of himself with a need to belittle the other."
The psychologist also noted a trivialization of violence on the part of Saïd, who justifies his actions by "the quality of his education." "I didn’t want to hurt my children. It’s just to raise them," he told her during their exchanges. She sees the accused as a father "unable to identify a moral pain in his children," a "sadist" who "takes pleasure in dominating, in hurting. A joy in seeing the other suffer."
"Throughout the interview, he did not show any emotion," the expert further observed from the stand. Born to a mason father in Morocco, Saïd A. received a very strict upbringing from him, to the point where he was withdrawn and unsociable as a teenager, according to the words of a friend. He learns the carpentry trade, but later becomes a dairy farmer. After marrying in 2004, he arrives in France the following year and works as a mason like his father.
His ex-wife, aged 38, is accused of not having reported the facts. "I believe she is in a state of passivity, of very great emotional dependence, which can justify the need to remain in stability. I’m not sure she could have said that her word counted, at the time. There was a focus on her own suffering. Maybe the children mattered much less then." The children are to be heard this Friday.
