Fatal Crash Trial Begins for Driver Returning from Morocco to France

While Ali was driving back from Morocco on September 1st, a road tragedy occurred near Arudy in the Bager forest, leaving two dead and one seriously injured. The trial of the Lourdais opens this Monday at the Pau court.
The 58-year-old man will appear this Monday around 3:15 p.m. (local time) for involuntary manslaughter, reports France Bleu. The facts date back to September 1, 2019. Ali had "over-driven". He had driven his car from Morocco, before an accident occurred in Béarn. He had gone, with a few relatives, to the kingdom.
According to the facts reported by Ali, the weather was not good that day, and his Peugeot car had crossed a car whose headlights were dazzling him. He chose to make a turn at the level of the power plant to cut between Herrère and Lourdes. Immediate consequence: the car fell into the ravine between the trees, over a hundred meters. It stops 40 meters below the road, specifies the same source.
The report shows two dead (his 56-year-old wife and a 41-year-old friend of hers), and one seriously injured (the 3-year-old child of the friend). On the arrival of the rescue services, the little boy was saved. Ali, for his part, survived. Since that day, he has not forgiven himself for this tragedy. Despite the absence of a civil party complaint, the Lourdais will have to face justice.
