Far-Right Pundit Zemmour to Stand Trial for Hate Speech Against Migrant Minors

Journalist Eric Zemmour will appear on September 8 before the Paris Criminal Court for "incitement to discrimination" and "racial insults." He had described unaccompanied minor migrants as "thieves and murderers."
"They (unaccompanied minor migrants) have no business being here, they are thieves, they are murderers, they are rapists, that’s all they are, they have to be sent back and they shouldn’t even come," the commentator had said on September 29, 2020, during a debate on the program "Face à l’info," dedicated to the issue of unaccompanied minors after the attack in front of the former premises of "Charlie Hebdo." Several associations and local authorities had filed a complaint for these remarks.
The Paris prosecutor’s office had opened an investigation for "incitement to racial hatred" and "public insults of a racist nature." For its part, the Superior Audiovisual Council (CSA) had condemned, on March 18, the news channel of the Canal+ group to a fine of 200,000 euros for "incitement to hatred" and "to violence." The Paris prosecutor’s office has just summoned the journalist to appear on September 8 before the criminal court for "incitement to discrimination" and "racial insults," reports AFP. Information confirmed by his lawyer, Olivier Pardo.
