Far-Right Party Targets Moroccan Immigrants in Belgian Social Housing Controversy

The New Flemish Alliance is campaigning against Moroccans benefiting from social housing in the Flemish region of Belgium and owning real estate in Morocco. These Moroccans living abroad (MREs) are now threatened with expulsion.
The espionage operation carried out by the far right has led to the census of the property of MREs in Morocco. The New Flemish Alliance has enlisted a Dutch specialized company to collect precise data for it. These are images of the properties, water and electricity bills, copies of property certificates.
This data was then communicated to the social housing companies. In turn, some companies have already initiated legal proceedings, reports Al Ahdath Al Maghribia. They have sent two notices to the MREs, especially those residing in Antwerp, one mentioning eviction, and the other relating to the payment of fines.
Faced with this desperate situation, the MREs of the Flemish region have, in a letter, cried out for help to the Moroccan authorities. They fear finding themselves on the street overnight.
