Far-Right Activists Acquitted in 2012 Poitiers Mosque Occupation Case

Eight years after the facts, the Poitiers Court of Appeal acquitted this Friday five activists of "Génération Identitaire". The far-right group had occupied the construction site of the Poitiers mosque in 2012.
The Poitiers court pronounced the acquittal, forgetting to suspend the statute of limitations for incitement to racial hatred following the first conviction. Due to this procedural error, the court decided to downgrade the serious damage to minor damage. The statute of limitations has also expired for this act punishable by simple fines.
For the leaders and faithful of this mosque, it is total disappointment. Indeed, they denounce in this case a parody of justice.
To recall, in 2017, these same "Génération Identitaire" activists were convicted at first instance for incitement to racial or religious hatred and for damaging property belonging to others.
