Eid al-Adha Sheep Sacrifice Restricted in Essonne Due to Lack of Approved Slaughterhouses

On Sunday, August 11, 2019, the Muslim community will celebrate Aïd el-Kébir. Unfortunately in Essonne, not all Muslim residents will perform the ritual sacrifice of the sheep, due to the lack of an approved slaughterhouse.
In Evry-Courcouronnes, Muslims, after the Friday prayer, were supposed to be back at the mosque two days later to celebrate Aïd al-Adha, except that not all of them will perform the ritual sacrifice of the sheep. "Many don’t buy any. Here, to trust, we want to see the sacrifice, not take meat blindly," describes Mustapha Gauthier, Secretary General of the mosque, to the newspaper Le Parisien.
Some Muslims prefer to perform the sacrifice themselves at home. Failing that, they entrust it to a farm, like this resident of Evry-Courcouronnes, Hafida, and her family. She is at least happy to have chosen the sheep. It is planned that on Sunday, August 11, she will receive the meat, without however attending the essential: the sacrifice. Others, on the other hand, rely on slaughterhouses and butchers, while some prefer to send the amount of this purchase to Morocco, to the family.
Indeed, in the Muslim tradition, only one third of the meat is consumed by the family. The rest must be given to neighbors, friends and the poor.
