Eid al-Adha 2024: French Muslim Council Sets Date for June 16

The French Council of the Muslim Faith (CFCM) has just announced the date of Eid al-Adha in France. This festival takes place on the 10th day of the month of Dhul-Hijjah (12th lunar month).
The Eid al-Adha festival this year will be on Sunday, June 16, 2024, according to a press release issued by the CFCM. The day before Eid al-Adha, the Day of Arafat, also reminds the Muslim body, is an important moment in the Muslim calendar. Fasting on this day is strongly recommended for non-pilgrims.
The sacrificial act must be carried out by authorized sacrificers, in permanent or temporary slaughterhouses approved by the State, in compliance with regulations relating to food health safety, health, animal welfare and environmental protection: the slaughter of animals outside slaughterhouses is prohibited and constitutes an offense, punishable by a sentence of six months’ imprisonment and a fine of 15,000 euros. Similarly, the possession of these live animals by persons not declared as breeders to the EDE is also prohibited. The possession of species under irregular conditions exposes to fines of 750 euros, the CFCM also specifies.
