Early June Heat Wave to Bring Near-Record Temperatures Across France

Temperatures will approach 40 degrees in France next week due to heat waves coming from Morocco.
In France, temperatures will rise from Wednesday, June 15: above 30º everywhere and could approach 40 degrees in the south and west. "From Wednesday to next Saturday, we expect one of the earliest heat waves ever observed in France, ahead of June 2003, June 2017 and June 2019: the 40°C mark could be reached. This would be a record of precocity on the mainland (excluding Corsica)," warns La Chaîne Météo in a tweet.
"As early as Thursday 16, 35 degrees will probably be exceeded in the southern regions with peaks of nearly 40 degrees south of the Garonne or in the Var," confirms Météo News, which forecasts peaks up to 33 degrees in the Nord-Pas-de-Calais on Saturday. A trend confirmed by Météo-villes which forecasts maximums at 32 in the North.
These high temperatures will give way to potentially violent thunderstorms next Sunday, it is warned.
