Dutch Authorities Dismantle Mocro Maffia Empire: Taghi Family Members Arrested Across Europe

The Dutch justice system has continued its investigations into the clan of Ridouan Taghi, leader of the Mocro Maffia, who was sentenced to life imprisonment in early 2024 for ordering several murders, managing to arrest the sons and close associates of the head of the Moroccan mafia specialized in drug trafficking and organized crime in the Netherlands, Belgium and Spain.
According to Jeune Afrique, the Dutch justice system has continued the investigations after the conviction of Ridouan Taghi. It has been particularly interested in his sons Faissal, Adil and Firass, as well as his cousin, the lawyer Youssef Taghi. The latter would be involved in an attempted escape of Ridouan Taghi from prison. Faissal Taghi, 25 years old, was arrested in Dubai in September 2023, then extradited to the Netherlands in July 2024. Convicted of drug trafficking, money laundering and participation in an armed escape attempt, he is staying in the high-security prison of Vught (EBI).
Adil Taghi, on the other hand, was arrested in Dubai in December 2024. According to some sources, he would have been deported to Morocco, his country of origin. Adil Taghi would have been the mastermind of the escape plan, according to the encrypted messages intercepted by the investigators. He is also involved in a theft of 1.4 tons of cocaine at the port of Antwerp in August 2023. As for Youssef Taghi, a criminal lawyer and cousin of Ridouan whose defense he began to ensure in 2020, he was arrested in October 2021 and sentenced to five and a half years in prison in early 2023 for his involvement in the escape attempt.
The Dutch justice system has gone further. In December 2023, Nora Taghi, Ridouan’s sister, and her husband were arrested on charges of money laundering, illegal possession of weapons and drug trafficking. Anouar Taghi, Ridouan’s nephew and a kickboxing practitioner, was sentenced to 26 years in prison in March 2024 for the murder of lawyer Derk Wiersum in 2019. He is serving his sentence in a high-security prison in Arnhem. His younger brother, Aimane, was arrested for cocaine trafficking between 2020 and 2022, and arms trafficking.
Another member of the Taghi clan was also arrested in Morocco. Morad Taghi, Ridouan’s brother, was arrested for his involvement in a case of attempted murder in Marrakech. The police also managed to get their hands on Raffaele Imperiale, a former baron of the Neapolitan Camorra mafia and Faissal Taghi’s brother-in-law. He was arrested in Dubai in 2021 and agreed to cooperate with the Italian justice system as part of the "Orinus 2" case, linked to an international cocaine trafficking operation.
