Drunk Man Threatens to Blow Up Building, Sparks RAID Operation in French Town

Entrenched in his home, on the second floor of a building in Montauban (Tarn-et-Garonne), a man of Moroccan origin started shouting from his window in the middle of the night, threatening to blow up the building with a gas bottle.
The events took place on Tuesday, around 4:45 a.m. The man, apparently drunk, threw furniture onto the sidewalk and started shouting from the window of his apartment on the second floor of a building, rue Delcassé, threatening to blow up the building with a gas bottle.
Alerted, the Montauban police cordoned off the neighborhood and evacuated the surrounding area as a precaution. Meanwhile, the individual continued to make threats, mixed with remarks related to the Palestinian cause, relays La Dépêche.
Faced with the situation, the RAID (French elite police unit) from Toulouse was called in for reinforcement. The man will be apprehended after 6:30 a.m. No gas bottle was found at his home. He will be taken to the Montauban police station, where he was placed in a sobering-up cell, then held in custody after being heard.
According to the initial findings of the investigation, the suspect, a 26-year-old professional cook, is of Spanish nationality and of Moroccan origin. The investigation is ongoing to determine his motivations and the exact circumstances of the incident.
