Drug Bust: Over 200 Kilos of Moroccan Cannabis Hidden in Tomato Shipment to UK

French police intercepted a truck in central France transporting more than 200 kilos of Moroccan cannabis resin hidden in cherry tomatoes destined for the United Kingdom. The goods were seized and five people were arrested.
The French justice system has announced that a drug trafficking network between Morocco and the Centre-Val de Loire region (central France) has been dismantled, with the seizure of a truck transporting more than 200 kilos of cannabis resin hidden in a shipment of cherry tomatoes, reports AFP. The drug "came from Morocco, via Spain, and the carrier would first stop in the Bordeaux region and then in the Centre-Val de Loire region in order to supply large quantities [...] to wholesalers," it was reported.
In total, five men were arrested by the French police. Among them, three were already known to the justice system. Pending their trial, they were placed in detention. During several searches in Gironde (southwest) and Centre-Val de Loire, the investigators seized 256,000 euros in cash and a handgun. "Vehicles, luxury products (including watches), about ten mobile phones and a laptop computer were also seized," said a representative of the justice system in a press release.
