TV Host Stéphane Plaza to Face Trial for Domestic Violence After Morocco Trip Incident

Stéphane Plaza, the star presenter of M6, had inappropriate behavior towards one of his ex-partners during a trip to Morocco. Prosecuted for "habitual violence" and placed under judicial supervision, he will be tried before a criminal court at the end of the summer, the Paris Prosecutor’s Office announced.
Stéphane Plaza is in hot water. After being held in custody for 48 hours, he "was brought before a prosecutor’s office magistrate," and placed under judicial supervision pending his trial this summer, the Paris Prosecutor’s Office said, specifying that the M6 star presenter will be tried for "offenses of habitual violence against a cohabitant against two victims." He is forbidden to contact the victims. He is also required to undergo care, "which is usual in cases of domestic violence," the prosecutor’s office said. Plaza is accused of "habitual violence by a cohabitant resulting in incapacity to work of more than 8 days (physical and psychological), committed against a woman between August 2018 and April 2022" and against "another woman between December 2021 and September 2022," according to the same source.
This case came to light following a Mediapart publication in September of testimonies from three of the real estate agent’s ex-partners, who denounced "humiliations, threats, verbal and, for two of them, physical violence." Two of these women then wrote to the Paris prosecutor’s office to accuse the presenter of "violence committed" during their relationship. An investigation was then opened to elucidate this case. Jade*, one of the victims, claimed that Plaza "proposed in a heavy and humorous way, to different important interlocutors," during a trip to Morocco, reports BFMTV, adding that the presenter "categorically denied" this fact while it is "corroborated by two witnesses who participated in the trip." He also denied the other accusations.
