Documentary "Marianne" Challenges Stereotypes of Muslim Women in France

Film and television producer Valentina Canavesio intends to make a documentary called "Marianne" to give a voice to Muslim women in France.
"Marianne" is a documentary that highlights the lives of seven women, French-born Muslims or converts to Islam, who wear the headscarf or not. These women speak out to challenge the uniform idea presented by the media and politicians of the "submissive" Muslim woman, reports LeMuslimPost.
According to the initiators of this film, they push the public to question their own assumptions about freedom, feminism, national identity and secularism in a national context where secularism is often manipulated as a tool of exclusion.
The seven protagonists of the film "challenge the dominant narrative in France of a uniform group, defined by oppression and a backward worldview. Through their respective journeys and perspectives, the film questions the concepts of secularism, universal feminism, freedom and French identity as they are currently defined," it is reported.
On the Kiss Kiss Bank Bank page of the project, Valentina Canavesio has launched a fundraising campaign for the production and distribution of the film.
