Dermatologist Warns of Skin Damage from Fake Cosmetics in Morocco

Nadia Radouane, a specialist in dermatology and aesthetics, warns Moroccan women about the risks associated with the use of counterfeit cosmetic products.
The era of social networks also rhymes with the quest for elegance and compliance with beauty standards. Many Moroccan women rush to products and follow this trend by using counterfeit cosmetic products sold at lower prices than the originals. But this option is not without consequences for their skin. Even the use of original cosmetic products can cause skin damage, let alone counterfeit products that do not meet international standards, which means they can contain large amounts of harmful substances to achieve a better apparent effect, explained Nadia Radouane, a specialist in dermatology and aesthetics on the Madar21 website. According to her, these counterfeit products cause serious skin problems, ranging from enlarged pores to the appearance of pimples all over the face, in addition to irritations and allergies, which can lead to infections or acne and its aggravation, warns Nadia Radouane.
Sometimes, a simple itching can evolve into pimples and inflammation, then into infections, not to mention ulcerations, specified the specialist in dermatology and aesthetics. She said that eczema, which can become persistent, as well as changes in skin color and the appearance of pigment spots, are also among the symptoms that can affect the skin. Worse, the use of counterfeit cosmetic products reduces the ability of skin cells to regenerate, as the harmful components accumulate in the cells and prevent their renewal, which leads to enlarged pores, the appearance of premature aging, skin fragility, and reduces the natural glow of the face, in addition to skin sagging, Nadia Radouane further explained.
Stressing that the list of adverse effects is long, the specialist calls for greater awareness in Moroccan society not to use cosmetic products from unauthorized stores or expired products, not to depend on cosmetics daily, to avoid sleeping with these products on the skin, and to choose cosmetic products suitable for each skin type.
