Decathlon Pulls Sports Hijab from Moroccan Site Amid French Controversy

Has the French brand Decathlon withdrawn the hijab dedicated to veiled sportswomen from its Moroccan website after a controversy in France? In any case, on the page of this product on the site, it is no longer offered for sale.

Yesterday, the French company had announced that it wanted to sell a hijab for Muslim women, following the example of other brands, including Nike or H&M, which have been offering the same product to their Muslim customers for months.

"The lightweight component is equipped with micro-holes to allow heat evacuation during exercise. Avoid wearing a cotton hijab because the material absorbs body moisture but cools the skin quickly as it does not evacuate sweat to the outside and does not dry quickly. By choosing a suitable hijab, you will gain comfort during your session regardless of the duration," it was stated on the product page on the Moroccan website of the company before the page was removed.

However, a search carried out this morning on the two sites (French and Moroccan) does not give any results for the famous product. The brand’s communications manager had stated yesterday to the newspaper Le Figaro that this product had been co-created with their teams in Decathlon Morocco who wanted to make this practice accessible to all sportswomen and future sportswomen in their country. "We are therefore making this product available to all countries, all cities, all stores that wish to do so, but it is up to the person who has the delegation of power to validate its commercialization," he said, assuming his desire to make "the practice of sport accessible to all women".

But today, the call for a boycott launched on social networks and the categorical rejection of several collectives seem to have put an end to this product and forced the company to suspend the sale of this product in France... and even in Morocco.
