Decathlon Pulls Ads from CNews Over Hate Speech Concerns

Decathlon has decided to withdraw its advertising on CNews for Christmas and intends to do so again for 2021. Reason given: the spread of hate speech on the channel.
On its Twitter page, Sleeping Giants France, a citizen collective fighting the financing of hate speech, made this information public on Thursday. According to this collective, the Decathlon group has made this decision "because the deleterious orientation of CNews can no longer be ignored" and "because more and more brands no longer want to finance the spread of these speeches".
"Brands buy placements months in advance, and are often surprised to be associated with programs that don’t at all match their values," the Sleeping Giant collective told 20 Minutes last year.
Responding to questions from Internet users, Decathlon confirms that it has indeed withdrawn its spots from the CNews channel at the end of this year.
The remarks made by Éric Zemmour in his "Face à l’info" program in recent months have sparked heated controversy. As a result, CNews is perceived as a channel for the propagation of hate speech.
