CSA Warns French TV Channel LCI Over Unchallenged Racist Remarks About COVID-19 Vaccine Tests

The Conseil supérieur de l’audiovisuel (CSA) reacted to the racist remarks made by French doctors on LCI about conducting vaccine tests in Africa to counter the coronavirus, and "firmly warned" the channel.
The Conseil supérieur de l’audiovisuel (CSA) "noted that the abrupt and questionable remarks of one of the speakers had not provoked any reaction or request for explanation on the set" and considered that "this sequence reflected a lack of control of the airtime," the audiovisual regulatory body said in a statement.
It recalls that "in this period of acute health crisis, when questions, the need for information and the challenges of social cohesion are stronger than ever, the media bear an eminent responsibility."
"If I can be provocative, shouldn’t we do this study in Africa where there are no masks, no treatment, no resuscitation,... A bit like what was done for certain AIDS studies or with prostitutes. We try things because we know they are highly exposed and they don’t protect themselves," Professor Jean-Paul Mira, head of the intensive care unit at the Cochin hospital in Paris, had suggested on LCI.
"You’re right, we’re thinking in parallel about a study in Africa to do this kind of approach," INSERM researcher Camille Locht had responded.
The remarks of the two doctors had sparked fierce controversy and outrage.
