Cryptocurrency Kidnapping Ring Busted: 25 Suspects Face Paris Judges, Alleged Mastermind at Large

While the alleged mastermind of the wave of kidnappings targeting the cryptocurrency community, a 40-year-old Franco-Moroccan, is believed to be in Morocco, the investigation has made a major breakthrough in France.
A large-scale crackdown conducted on May 26 and 27 led to more than twenty arrests. This Friday, May 31, twenty-five of these suspects were presented to investigating judges in Paris, the prosecutor’s office announced.
These presentations follow investigations into several cases, including an attempted kidnapping on May 13 in the capital. According to information from the French press, the alleged mastermind of these operations, from Morocco, recruited young delinquents to form his commandos. The individuals arrested in France are considered by investigators as "small-time operators."
The profile of the suspects confirms this hypothesis. They are neither the masterminds nor their lieutenants, but rather the executors: drivers, logisticians, or car thieves. Most are already known for petty crimes and, according to TF1 channel, at least two minors are among them.
This police operation is a turning point in a series of cases that have shaken France since the beginning of the year, notably the kidnapping of Ledger co-founder David Balland and his partner in late January, or a foiled attempt near Nantes earlier this week. The judicial fate of the twenty-five suspects is now in the hands of the investigating magistrates, who must decide on their potential indictment.
