COVID-19 Claims Lives of Nearly 100 Moroccan Nationals in Belgium

Morocco has lost 97 nationals, victims of the coronavirus, in Belgium, including 75 in Brussels, 15 in Liège and 07 in Antwerp. This was specified on Saturday, April 18, 2020, by the Moroccan ambassador Mohamed Ameur.
The repatriation of the bodies to the kingdom being impossible in this context marked by the spread of covid-19, Mohamed Ameur told the Map that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad has decided to cover the burial costs of the deceased in precarious situations.
Similarly, the Moroccan diplomat recalled that a monitoring cell has been set up at the level of the embassy and the three consulates of the kingdom in Belgium since March 14. It is responsible for the daily monitoring of the situation of citizens blocked through in particular the establishment of a census and a global list.
In total, 910 Moroccan nationals are currently blocked in Belgium due to the closure of air and sea borders. A measure aimed at curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
