Couple Arrested in Paris Suburb for Illegal Cupping Therapy Practice

A couple was taken into custody in Seine-Saint-Denis for practicing the so-called cupping therapy, known as "hijama".
Several months of research and investigations allowed the investigators to arrest the man in the Eure and the woman in Seine-Saint-Denis. For two years, they engaged in this alternative medicine called "purifying bloodletting" or "hijama" in a hotel in Rosny-sous-Bois. This is a practice highly prized by some members of the Muslim community. This involves making incisions in the skin of their "patients" before removing blood from them using cups, reports cnews.fr.
According to the same source, the practice of this therapy, whose effects are not scientifically proven, is reserved only for professional doctors. The two people arrested have no medical knowledge but make their patients believe that they are physiotherapists and nurses.
