Controversial Journalist’s Bid for French Parliament Sparks Backlash Over Far-Right Views

The likely candidacy of the polemicist journalist Zineb El Rhazoui for the French legislative elections, on the LREM list, does not please everyone. She is accused of being too close to the far right.
The positioning of the writer and former collaborator of Charlie Hebdo, in the 9th constituency of French citizens abroad (Maghreb and West Africa) is strongly rejected within public opinion, particularly on social networks, reports La Dépêche.
El Rhazoui, tipped to replace M’jid El Guerrab, tried in April last year for intentional violence, is criticized for her positions. On Friday, November 5, 2021, she had shocked by declaring on television that it was necessary to "shoot live ammunition against the young people of the suburbs".
Some Internet users have also denounced her proven proximity to figures of the far right, such as the polemicist Papacito, accused of incitement to murder by Jean-Luc Mélenchon in June 2021.
"She has no legitimacy. She doesn’t know the reality. I invite her to go debate with Marine Le Pen instead. She could show what sets her apart from her," said Ahmed Eddarraz, an entrepreneur based in Casablanca and a candidate for the Macronist nomination, to Libération.
