Controversial French Scientist Praises Diversity in Research Teams, Criticizes Veil Ban

The famous French microbiologist, Didier Raoult, during a scientific conference a few years ago, had given a testimony on the students forming his research teams.
"I recently had a problem in the hospitals where someone had gotten it into their head to prevent the girls with me from wearing a veil on their heads by over-interpreting the law. In universities, the veil is not prohibited. But we love to prohibit!" recounted Professor Didier Raoult.
"The best students currently in the world are ’African’ and ’Eastern’ students without comparison," testified Professor Didier Raoult. For the infectiologist, the worst are the boys who went to the Faculty of Sciences in France.
"Why? Because all the countries (France, the United States and Europe in general) drain the students who seem the brightest to them, to bring them into circuits where there is no research. The future of the kids is not research; it’s to do high-level sports (if they can), to do banking, administration, to run companies, ... but not to do science," he had explained.
"In France, 50% of doctoral students are foreigners. [...] Don’t be fooled, French science runs on immigrants. The engine of the war is the immigrants!" indicated this famous virologist. And, the "best, the most intelligent, the most dynamic, those who work on Sundays with me, it’s just the ’blacks’ and the ’Arabs’," he affirmed.
