Controversial Comedian Fined $10,000 for Racist Remarks in French Show

For making racist remarks in June 2017, during his show "Le Bal des quenelles", Dieudonné has been convicted again. The comedian will have to pay two fines.
The comedian was sentenced to pay a fine of 10,000 euros as well as 8,000 euros to each of the two associations that had joined as civil parties, reports Le Parisien. For his lawyer, Me Isabelle Coutant-Peyre, the procedure is "inopportune". She also disputes the incriminating remarks, stating that she will appeal against this conviction.
During the hearing on June 22, the polemicist had left the courthouse an hour after his arrival on the pretext that he had to record a daily show. Dieudonné found it insulting to come and disturb the court to talk about "sketches" according to his words.
The term "gag of the Cracow pajamas" used on June 17, 2017 during his show, is described by the court as racist. This term referring to the clothing of Jewish deportees during World War II earned him this conviction.
To recall, in recent months, the former accomplice of Elie Semoun has been permanently banned from Facebook and YouTube.
