Community Rallies to Fund Repatriation of Slain Moroccan Teen in Caen, France

The residents of the Pierre-Heuzé neighborhood, in the city of Caen, are mobilizing to support the family of the 19-year-old Moroccan, killed on Friday, January 24, by a shotgun bullet. This kitty will allow the body to be repatriated to the country.
The Moroccan family, struck by this tragedy, is still in shock. As for the mother, she is still devastated by the death of the youngest of her six sons, coldly shot down by criminals still at large.
According to the first elements of the investigation, the young man died after being hit by a shotgun bullet, fired by two hooded young people who were waiting for him at the foot of the building.
Also touched by this bereavement, residents are mobilizing to help the grieving family who have lived for many years in the Pierre-Heuzé neighborhood in Caen. With this financial support, the Moroccan family will be able to repatriate the body to their homeland, so that the mother and her sons can pay their respects.
To this end, collection boxes have been placed in neighborhood businesses. "There are already some at the bakery, the pharmacy, the butcher’s, at Carrefour,..." says Emilie, one of the neighborhood residents. "And from Monday on, there will be some at the socio-cultural center and the youth center in Pierre-Heuzé." In addition, a white march is announced in the very near future to raise awareness among residents about the violence "that is spreading everywhere, not just in Pierre-Heuzé," it is said.
