Chinese Engineer Finds Love in Morocco While Building Iconic Tower

Came to Morocco to build the Mohammed VI tower, a Chinese engineer falls in love with a Moroccan flight attendant and ends up getting married and starting a family. His love story is the same as that of many people who come to Morocco for work, but end up finding love.
The meeting between the two lovebirds took place four years ago. At the time, the Chinese engineer was working on a project in the port of Casablanca. She was a flight attendant for an airline in Morocco. "It was as if our meeting was written forever. We exchanged contacts and we never left each other again," confides the engineer.
From this union was born a little girl, 2 years old, whom her father describes as "a cute and very mischievous girl" who is the pride of her parents. Due to the very busy schedules of her parents, the little girl lives with her Moroccan grandmother. "I’m really sorry we don’t enjoy her as much as we’d like, but that’s the nature of the jobs we do. I try to spend time with her on weekends, even though I’d like to do more."
Unlike some couples, being from diverse backgrounds has no repercussions on them. "My father-in-law studied in France and my wife is very open-minded. My Chinese culture is very inclusive. We have no problem on this level. We try to draw from our cultural differences the strengths needed to move forward."
The engineer is happy to have participated in the construction of the Mohammed VI Tower, the tallest building in Morocco, the second tallest in Africa after the iconic tower of the new administrative capital (NAC) in Egypt. "I think in Morocco, the construction industry is different from what I know and am used to in China."
He has traveled to many countries as part of his job, but Morocco remains his favorite. "Morocco is the country where I fell in love, had my child. I’m learning a lot of things. My career really took off here. I have friends, even outside of work, I’ve improved my language skills and, more importantly, it’s here that I met the woman of my life, started my family. I have a daughter that I love with all my heart. I would like the relations between China and Morocco to improve further."
