Chaos at Brussels Charleroi: Staff Shortages Spark Flight Disruptions to Morocco
Flights to Morocco are disrupted due to extreme crowds at Brussels Charleroi airport.
Many travelers experienced a nightmare at Charleroi airport last Sunday. The reason is that the airport does not have enough security personnel to cope with the large volume of passengers, report airlines such as Ryanair. This information is confirmed by Nathalie Pierard, spokesperson for the airport. She specifies that this lack of staff is causing difficulties in dealing with this large influx. The rate of last-minute absences is also particularly high this Sunday, reports HLN.
"It’s a busy weekend, with many departing and arriving passengers. [...] We have stewards on site who try to inform passengers, but with so many travelers, it’s not easy," adds Nathalie Pierard. She explains: "If there are too many passengers, we make them wait for departure outside the terminal." Travelers are advised to arrive at least three hours before the scheduled departure time. The airport calls for patience and says it is doing everything possible to resolve the situation.
This situation has had an impact on flights departing the airport to destinations such as Morocco. If the airport is unable to effectively cope with the lack of security personnel, flights will continue to be disrupted in the coming days.
