Ceuta to Reject 96% of Migrant Asylum Claims, Impose EU Entry Bans

The government delegation in Ceuta indicated on Monday that only 4% of migrants will have their asylum applications approved and the rest will be expelled with an order prohibiting entry into Spain and the rest of the EU for five or ten years.
Out of the 1,230 asylum applications filed by migrants, 263 have already been approved and the persons concerned can move freely on Spanish territory. On the other hand, those whose applications are rejected will be simply expelled and prohibited from entering Spain and the rest of the European Union for a period of five to ten years, reports Europa Press.

The delegation intends to accelerate the procedure for processing asylum applications from September. To this end, 200 agents will be deployed to reinforce the asylum office team, said delegate Salvadora Mateos.
In total, 3,474 migrants have already returned voluntarily to Morocco and only 124 have been repatriated by the authorities since the end of the migration crisis that occurred in May.
