Ceuta Leader Urges Spain to Keep Moroccan Visa Requirement at Border

Ceuta wishes to maintain the visa requirement for Moroccan travelers to control the transit at the Tarajal border.
The President of Ceuta, Juan Vivas, who has always advocated for the visa requirement for Moroccans, will seize the opportunity of the International Tourism Fair (FITUR) in Madrid to try to meet and present to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, the impact of this measure on the management of border traffic and also to know the opinion of the central government on the maintenance of this visa requirement, reports El Faro de Ceuta.
Vivas wants to have the guarantee that this measure will continue to be applied. He will also take advantage of this meeting to find out the date of the opening and the characteristics of the commercial customs, the start of which is scheduled for this month and should contribute to a "normalization of the border".
Since the reopening of the border on May 17, only travelers holding a visa are allowed to cross it. Goods traffic, on the other hand, is prohibited, causing enormous damage to the border populations who benefited from smuggling.
