Casablanca Region Approves $4.5 Billion in Investments, Creating 24,000 Jobs

A total of 159 investment files were validated by the Regional Investment Center (CRI) of the Casablanca region in 2020, for projected amounts of 45.7 billion dirhams. This is the result of the third Board of Directors.
Of the 311 files examined by the Unified Regional Investment Commission (CRUI), the 159 approved projects will have to generate 24,605 jobs in the different prefectures and provinces of the region, reports La Map, specifying that according to the sectoral distribution of the selected files, the industry, tourism and services sectors dominate and 25% of the investments are reserved for the province of El Jadida, 20% for Berrechid and 14% for Casablanca.
During this third Council chaired by the Wali of the region, governor of the prefecture of Casablanca, Said Ahmidouch, the Council presented the assessment of a year of operation of the CRI after its reform and its new missions, as well as the installation of the digitization, simplification and administrative facilitation project. Under the supervision of the Ministry of the Interior, this project represents a major moment of change in the relationship between administrations and economic operators.
In addition, the CRI of Casablanca-Settat has placed the monitoring of SMEs at the center of its strategy. In this sense, the CRI has launched several actions with SMEs, especially "Qimam", the first integrated support hub, a flagship project aiming to bring together the regional entrepreneurial ecosystem, in order to offer it a complete and adapted offer.
The Center has also put in place an internal process of transformation of mindsets and change management so that CRI resources strengthen their commitment to the public service they provide to investors. In addition, despite the consequences of the health crisis, the Center has managed, it is said, to ensure the continuity of activity thanks to the installation of the CRI-Invest platform allowing the management of the administrative process from end to end in a simple and effective way. Also, "47% of the three-year strategic plan was achieved in 2020, with 5 projects finalized and 15 under implementation," said the general manager of the Center, Salmane Belayachi, during the meeting.
