Casablanca Ranks Among Top Remote Work Destinations for Spanish Professionals

Casablanca is one of the best destinations for Spaniards for remote work, according to a Wise study analyzing the cost of living in a hundred cities in 67 countries that have time zones compatible with Spain.
35% of the active population in Spain have a profession that allows them to work remotely, from almost anywhere in the world, according to the INE. To facilitate their choice of the best destination for remote work, Wise conducted a study that analyzes the cost of living in a hundred cities in 67 countries.
Tourist destinations par excellence like Casablanca in Morocco are a safe option for remote work. The cost of living is affordable with estimated monthly expenses of 520 euros, according to the study. In the South African cities of Johannesburg and Cape Town, two other tourist destinations, the average monthly cost is 620 euros and 720 euros respectively. All destinations are in time zones compatible with work schedules in Spain (UTC, UTC+1, UTC+2, UTC+3, UTC-1).
According to the latest INE data, the average salary of Spaniards is 25,265 euros gross per year, with a significant difference of more than 5,000 euros between men (27,642 euros) and women (22,467 euros). After analyzing the data, the city of Blagoevgrad in Bulgaria is the cheapest destination for remote work, with 260 euros per month for basic expenses (about 150 euros for rent and 100 euros for food, transportation and leisure activities). Sofia, the capital, is also a good choice, with an average expenditure of 490 euros.
Other options to consider are Ankara in Turkey with 290 euros per month, or the Polish city of Krakow and the Hungarian capital, Budapest, where the average monthly cost of living is 550 euros and 560 euros respectively. Spaniards who choose one of the more than 100 cities analyzed will spend an average of 897 euros per month (1,400 euros for men and 975 euros for women).
