CAF Clears Moroccan Football President Lekjaa of Assault Allegations

While he was the target of a complaint filed against him by the Ethiopian Football Federation for assault against the referee of the 2018-2019 Confederation Cup final, Bamlak Tessema, Fouzi Lekjaa can breathe a sigh of relief. According to the decision of the CAF Disciplinary Commission on Tuesday, the President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation will not be sanctioned.
The complaint filed by the Ethiopian Football Federation against Fouzi Lekjaa did not meet with the expected success, and this is for the happiness of the President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation who can rejoice, especially since he finds himself under pressure, after a disastrous CAN. There was no need for him to suffer this other setback.
Indeed, according to the CAF Disciplinary Commission, the match commissioner’s report "contained ambiguous statements from the complainant party on the nature of the assault suffered by the Ethiopian referee, Bamlak Tessema".
Therefore, the CAF disciplinary body decided not to sanction Fouzi Lekjaa, for lack of "solid grounds", reports Le Matin, which points out that "the president of the FRMF had been accused by the Ethiopian referee of the match, Bamlak Tessema, of attempted assault".
