Brutal Gang Attack Leaves 20-Year-Old Fighting for Life in Belgium

Adil, a 20-year-old man, was beaten by 15 individuals and left for dead near the Quaregnon slag heap (Belgium). His attackers burned the van he was driving to erase the traces. The victim and his mother are still in shock.
The events took place on the night of Friday, October 15 near the Quaregnon slag heap. He arrived by van to go to a nightclub in Mons, but was denied access because of his attire, reports La Province. One of his relatives sees him and everything escalates. Adil recounts: "He spat on me, ’you’re dead,’ he told me. He felt all-powerful." Fourteen other people join them. Panicked, Adil flees.
The fifteen individuals get into three cars and chase him. They hit him with baseball bats, kicks and punches. They would have then locked him in the trunk before throwing him like a garbage bag at the Quaregnon slag heap. In the process, the young man loses consciousness. The attackers left him for dead, burned the van of the "Oasis du désert" association that his sister had lent him for his move to Ath. The victim managed to crawl to the home of his other cousin, who lives in the neighborhood of rue Ernest Leuba in Quaregnon.
Adil is still in shock after the attack. He talks about his after-effects: "I have a cerebral hemorrhage. [...] I can no longer hear. I lost 20% of my hearing. In a month, I will have to do more tests." The young man filed a complaint in Brussels. As for his mother, she filed a complaint with the Borinage police for the arson of the van.
