Brutal Attack on Couple in Rabat Sparks Outrage, Police Investigation Underway
The Rabat police have opened an investigation following the assault of a young man by four individuals at the entrance of his building in the Yacoub El Mansour neighborhood.
A video of the assault, which has gone viral, shows a man curled up on the ground, violently beaten and trampled by the assailants, while his young girlfriend, his girlfriend, films the scene as evidence.
According to the alleged assailants, their act aimed to "enforce the law" in their own way by preventing access to the building to an "unmarried couple", the young man wanting to let his girlfriend in. The brutality of this sequence has sparked a wave of outrage and condemnation. The authorities of the Rabat prefecture of police claim to have reacted quickly following the report of the video.
An investigation is underway under the supervision of the competent prosecutor’s office in order to understand the circumstances of this case and to precisely establish the responsibilities of each party present in the video, as well as their degree of involvement.
